Honda V6 Functional Engine

A deeper insight into the project...

Inspired by a 2.8 L V-6 Twin Turbo Engine found within sports cars, this original 165 kg functional model comprises of over 196 individual parts assembled together to replicate an internal combustion four-stroke engine. It comprises of individual parts each with the tiniest bit of detail, which when combined into an assembly function like a real engine. Requirements such as tolerance ranges, appropriate dimensions, screw holes, object material and its properties were all taken into consideration with as much accuracy as possible. Additional parts such as Air Turbo (Supercharger), Air Filters, Hoses, Oil Pan were all included within the design of the engine. This project was tackled with a personal goal of becoming proficient at CAD Modelling within Solid Works and in return taught me professional engineering design, how engines are made and the mechanics behind them.
