Throughout the golden ages of robotic engineering, the importance of nature in bio-inspired robotic locomotives has been prevalent. This emerging new field is central to a whole new way of designing advanced mechanism each with a specific application. Using design concepts found within nature, modern robotics has gained an edge in redefining the limits of engineering design and addressing the challenges of the future. As inspiration from nature, a walking mechanical model of an animal is constructed above. Using tension as force, the mechanisms behind this model are simply an ideation of the way in which animals achieve propulsion and motion with a constant shift in center of gravity. Factors considered when designing this model included degrees of freedom, ranges of motion, moving frames, relative component sizes, reference frames, etc.
